Moonlight hike :)

When the full moon passes, a lot of seasonnaires in St.Anton tend to do a thing called the Moonlight hike from St. Christoph up to the top of the Galzig lift in St.Anton. So last Tuesday a couple of friends and I decided to give it ago before the season was over, it was possibly one of the best experiences of the whole season and something that I've wanted to do for a while.
You basically hike up piste number 8 all the way to the top and it took us about 50minutes to complete but we carried on going to the top of the Zammemoos lift so we could see over both St.Anton and St.Christoph.

Everyone ready to go in St.Christoph

St.Anton in the moonlight!

Full Moon

Exhausting and sweaty probably sums up the hike pretty well but the views on the way up are just incredible, it feels like the piste has been flood lit because of the light coming from the full moon is so bright. We were especially lucky as there wasn't a cloud in sight and the views from the top were just amazing.
Once at the top we sat with a bottle of Jager and few beers just enjoying the views before skiing down the freshly groomed pistes... Who needs first lift when you can ski on them hours after they've been pisted!

Shay celebrating!

A few of us at the top.

Definitely something to tick off the list if your doing a season out here or even if your holiday lands on a full moon week, but I would definitely recommend a lot of layers as you may sweat like a bitch on the way up but once you get there it is seriously cold! Oh and plenty of water is also advised, along with an alcoholic drink to celebrate with at the top!

Season is drawing to a close now :( so I'm trying to get loads of things like this done before I go! I'll keep you posted ciao x

Wednesday 24rd March
The sun has been shinning for the past couple of days here in St.Anton so a big group of us decided to take a trip up to Rendl beach with a picnic and boozes today! Sunbathing up at Rendl beach watching the riders in the park, getting slowly burnt or in my case just staying the same shade of pale! It has been a really good day and looks like most of our days left in St.Anton are going to be spent like that, as the snow is slowly starting to disappear but I think I can handle a couple of relaxed weeks up at Rendl!

Chase being ... chase

Filming of the 'Chalet girl' is coming to a close this week as the shooting moves to Garmisch in Germany so tomorrow night tamsin and felicity are coming out with us to say goodbye and celebrate their time in St.Anton.

Thursday 25th April
Amy and Charley's friends arrived this week, which meant 4 smelly boys gatecrashing our flat, eating our food and drinking our boozes and not forgetting the midnight surprise 'snuggles'! Ben, Jimmy, Olly and Maz have been a real good laugh and I'll be gutted to see them leave on Tuesday. We've had some wicked apres sessions, some injuries :( but all in all an epic time. They have also been teaching me how to snow board and I think I may have been converted for the rest of the season...

By the way, I've just looked out the window and the snow has started to fall in St.Anton!!!

Heli-skiing anyone?

HELI-SKIING!
On Thursday 18th March I was lucky enough to get the chance to go Heli-skiing in Zurs! If that wasn't enough I also got to do it for free, as Rainer a ski instructor friend of mine had a spare seat in the heli and his guests were generous enough to let me go with them. To say it was the best skiing day of my life is an understatement, it had snowed the previous two days and then on Thursday morning the heavens opened and a blue bird day presented itself, PERFECT CONDITIONS, FRESH TRACKS and AMAZING VIEWS!
I just want to say a massive thank you to Bryan, Mark and Rainer the guys I went with, it was an amazing experience and I had a brilliant day with them.
The day started with a beer while we waited for our slot, we were the last slot of the day around 12:30, which mean't we had the mountain to ourselves. Then we were explained the safety procedures after which we were in the helicopter looking at these amazing views...

Rainer pre-heli-ski!

Bryan, Mark and myself about to set off.

At this point I could not hold my excitement in, we were all like little children at Christmas. In total it took about ten minutes to get to our drop off, from the helicopter you could see most of the Alberg; Lech; Zug; Zurs. The views were just incredible!

Rainer and myself at the top!

The Views from the top!

Rainer was an incredible guide and led us down a route which was fresh tracks all the way to the bottom, if that wasn't enough we also got to do some tree skiing near the bottom. All in all the skiing was amazing, an hour of fresh powder skiing what more could you ask for?
To round the day off Bryan and Mark treated us to Lunch in The Burg in Oberlech! Once again I want to say thank you to the guys, for the best day skiing of the season!

Last night Fin and Sharky two guys in resort had a little DJ battle in Scottys, sharky played this song which I haven't heard in ages, reminded me of Brighton and my best friend Hannah Coultrup!
Hometown Glory remix - High Contrast, Enjoy ....

P.s has been snowing for two days, today is a total white out. Looks like a powder day tomorrow!

Okay so I don't know if anyone back home has heard that currently there is a film being shot in St.Anton called the 'Chalet Girl', starring Felicity Jones, Bill Nighly, Tamsin Egerton, Sophia Bush and Ed Westwick to name a few.
Over the past month both Felicity and Tamsin have been working at our chalet to get experience for the film and to see what its really like to be a chalet girl! Both of the girls were really good fun and are now back in resort filming as we speak.
Now most of St.Anton's seasonnaires are applying for extra roles in the film and on Wednesday I got my chance to be an extra in the film. I know what your thinking how exciting, meeting all the actors and being in the film, it couldn't get any better right? Well think again guys, I started at 2 0'clock in the afternoon but didn't start filming till 5, then had another 2 hour break filmed a little bit more then another 3 hour break and then home time at Midnight which in total accumulated to 5 minutes worth of the film and 60 euros in my bank account. So all in all we spent most of the day like this:

Sun bathing, drinking and chatting.

Dil, me and Shay

Stu, trying to smuggle boozes on to the set.

To sum the day up, it was a constant supply of free food, chilling out with friends, sun bathing and the odd bit of work. It was also great to see felicity and Tamsin again, but maybe not something I will be jumping at the chance to do again! I'll keep you updated on all scandals from the film...ciao x

Hiking

Yesterday we decided to go hiking to do the off piste valley from Maroikopfle to Langon its about a 30 minute hike to the top from the highest lift in Stuben.
So ten happy riders set off from St.Anton to Stuben in search of fresh tracks...

Pre-hike, all smiles!

To say I thought I was going to die on the way up is a huge understatement, I managed to munch my way through my mars bar in the first ten minutes and also rinse my only supply of water! But once you get to the top the stunning views and sense of accomplishment are totally worth it and of course the 40 minutes of pure fat powder that await you is also just a slight added bonus.

Finally at the top, exhausted!

Unfortunately the powder wasn't that great as the wind and cold had created a hard crust over night but there were still some good patches to be found, it was definitely worth it and also something that will be done again before the end of the season.

The Survivors!
